More about the Vivo!:

Minimize Vivo! Print Technology

The Vivo! is an electrophotographic printer, similar to a laser printer. The advantage of this label printing technology is that it quickly produces finished labels which are ready to be used. The Vivo! label printer digitally produces large quantities of custom labels fast, printing any label artwork on virtually any die-cut label shape. Vivo!-printed labels are colorfast and resist fading from UV light exposure, scratching due to abrasion, and bleeding due to exposure to water and some solvents.

The Vivo! printing process begins when a roll of blank label material is loaded onto its feeder. Then, the Vivo!’s four image drums transfer its cyan, magenta, yellow, and black colored toner onto the surface of the label material according to the pixels in the digital label file. The label material is continuously moved through the printer by its transfer belt. As the label material carrying the deposited toner reaches the Vivo!’s heated fuser, the toner is melted and fused to the label material, composing the printed label image. When printed labels emerge from the Vivo!, they are completely dry and finished.

Minimize How is the Vivo! different from other label printers?

The Vivo! is the fastest digital label printer on the market developed especially for use by manufacturers and processors who want to print their own short-run labels in-house. The Vivo! is faster and more robust than inkjet label printers. It produces higher-quality labels than color thermal transfer label printers. We think it’s the best label machine on the market for printing moderate to high volumes of photo-quality labels in short-run batches.

The Vivo! prints using toner, a very stabile form of ink that resists UV light exposure, resists moisture, resists abrasion, resists faded color, and even resists some chemical solvents without requiring the labels to be laminated.

And, the Vivo! is personally installed by one of QuickLabel’s factory-trained technicians and each Vivo! customer is serviced by a personal Media Product Specialist who makes it quick and easy to order labels and toner.

Minimize How fast is the Vivo!? How many labels can it print?

The Vivo! prints labels in 600 dpi resolution at up to 3 linear inches per second. The number of labels the Vivo! can print per hour varies with the size of the label. For example, the Vivo! prints 39.6 labels per minute at the 3" x 4" (76mm x 102mm) size. That is 2,376 labels per hour. In an 8-hour shift, the Vivo! can print 19,008 labels.

Some Vivo! owners print labels throughout a multi-shift day, while others print labels only a few times a week. Whenever label printing takes place, the Vivo!’s high-speed digital label printing will keep pace with fast production lines and quick turnaround times.

Minimize How do manufacturers earn money with the Vivo!?

Manufacturers find they can make more money with the Vivo! by printing differentiated, photo-quality labels for each product, by making custom labels available to sell products under private label, by making custom labels to package custom-formulated products, by making personalized labels to sell products as gifts and promotional items, and by making foreign language labels to sell into export markets.

Vivo! owners save money by producing their labels in more efficient, smaller-quantity print runs, that correspond to actual product shipments. This allows them to avoid holding labels in inventory, and also gives them in-house control over production and quality.

With the Vivo!’s high-speed label printing, Vivo! owners can ship faster because they are never more than a few hours away from having labeled products.

Cost-Per-Label and Speed Analysis

For many businesses, Vivo!-printed labels will augment the purchase of labels from traditional label presses. In others, the Vivo! will be the only label printer necessary.

All prices are in USD.

Labels emerge from the Vivo! ready dry, colorfast, and ready to apply. Die-cut labels that are not printed “full-bleed” can be immediately loaded onto a label applicator.

In the case of “full-bleed labels” (labels that are printed from edge-to-edge on the label shape) the label matrix is left in place around the die-cut label shape in order to absorb stray toner that might harm the printer. The die-cut labels can be easily peeled away from this matrix by hand, or by using the QuickPeel System for fast, automated removal of this excess matrix.

The QuickPeel System is composed of two units, a “dual rewinder” unit that peels the matrix away from the die-cut labels while neatly winding the matrix onto a core for disposal, and a second “single rewinder” unit that simultaneously rewinds the finished labels onto a roll, ready for use on a label applicator

  • Label Rewinder:

The Vivo! is used with a simple label rewinder that automatically rewinds labels onto a roll as they exit the Vivo!. Finished, printed label rolls are ready to be loaded onto a label applicator or label dispenser.
